Health-Fall Skin Care

Autumn - Fall skin careColorful foliage, cooler weather, and the hint of the holidays make fall a great few months. This season is one of the most beautiful times of the year but it can be hard on your skin. Dryness, chapping, and cracked skin are common during the fall.

The best way to keep your skin soft and smooth are following simple morning and evening skin care routines.

One way to keep your skin feeling soft is by using oil before bathing or showering. Using almond or sesame oil to massage into your skin before you bathe will give you a protective barrier that counteracts the drying nature of most soap products.

At night, get the same oil and rub it into your skin, paying special attention to your troubled spots. Hands, feet, and elbows may need extra attention. During the night your skin will absorb the oil and make your skin feel smooth and supple when you wake up.

If you'd like, you may add a little fragrance by putting in a drop of your favorite scent of essential oil. Not only will this routine give you nicer looking skin, it will also help you sleep better.

Equally important is to drink water in the fall as it is in the hot summer months. Hydrating your skin from the inside out is important for good skin health. Most experts recommend eight to ten glasses of water each day. It is also helpful to use cooking oil such as olive oil to keep your body moisturized. Another good way to combat the dryness of the fall is to drink hot herbal teas with the ingredients of peppermint, lemon, and ginger.

A little know herb, Tumeric, helps keep your body moisturized and helps to clear skin. You can use Tumeric by adding a dab of the powder to your exfoliating cream. Gently massage the cream into your face and rinse thoroughly. It may stain, so be careful about spilling on any clothing or towels.

Keep your body hydrated and your skin well moisturized from the inside out. You should choose products that have little or no fragrance, as fragrance will cause your skin to dry out. Pick your skin care products wisely and continue to drink plenty of liquids, even though the fall has brought cooler temperatures.
